"Olivia volunteered with Oxfam for just over a year, she joined as part of our social media team. Her creativity and knowledge was a huge boost to our Instagram and TikTok accounts.
Olivia was also a valued member of our Online team, her creative writing skills have been essential to drive sales and her self motivation has helped train and motivate others.
We are so lucky to have had Olivia, she is dedicated and inspiring ❤️"
Oxfam in North street, Brighton is unique due to its high volume of designer donations. The goal of social media was to emphasise that this shop is different to other charity shops in the area and is worth visiting every time someone is in the area.
Because of this, I worked hard to steer the social media in the direction of highlighting the unique and high-value items that you seldom find in chain charity shops. It was important to highlight the value of investing in good quality clothes to not only reduce waste, but to also enable people interested in fashion to afford the pieces they desire. I was also one of the main drivers behind the Oxfam Online shop, where especially high-value pieces would be available for purchase exclusively on the website. These pieces were advertised on social media, styled to make full outfits. I ensured that the captions were SEO-rich, containing important information such as the condition of the item and brand history. On top of this, I created content that promoted Oxfam’s values by offering tips on upcycling, ethical purchases and other schemes Oxfam have in place.
On top of my social media videography and photography skills, I also produced custom social media graphic design, text overlays and background surface patterns.
I also directly aided in creating product listings for the Online Shop, using my own structure that ensured items were described and customers were happy with their purchases. I expanded my role into taking product photos, making sure that items were portrayed truthfully but attractively. Because of this, we were able to sell more high-value items and had no returns in the time that I helped in the e-commerce side of the shop.
