Ashen Rose Media is a social media management and content creation studio made for businesses and events that are a bit different.If you’re looking for someone who you can trust to not water down your brand, then you’re in the right place. One of my favourite things is being able to support niche community events. If you’re looking to “go viral” or want “just more followers”, the Ashen Rose Media approach won’t be for you. What event locations do you cover?

I’m based in Brighton & Hove and am available to travel anywhere within Brighton and Worthing at no extra charge (provided that it’s covered by public transport).For events outside of this radius (including London), it will incur an extra travel charge at 25% of the package price. Any added costs will only be agreed prior to confirmation of the final booking.

Question 3

What kind of content will you make?

Although the specifics will depend on your event and business, I usually make both photo and video content for events. I like to focus on what makes your event unique and capture the overall atmosphere of the day.This can include videos and photos of:Speakers or panelistsArtist alleys and marketsParticipation in activitiesProduct displaysAny and all content is approved prior to being posted.You can see the Events section of my portfolio for examples of my past work.

Question 4

Do you need access to my accounts?

Short answer: it’s not absolutely necessary, but for the best experience, yes.The long answer: it’s recommended as it allows you to get the most out of my service and not have to lift a finger beyond approving of the content prior.Something I include when making carousels (picture posts) is alternative text. This involves writing a description for every slide in a post. Unless you’re comfortable pasting the descriptions on each carousel, it’s something I can’t do unless I have access to your accounts. I also do something similar with videos. Because content is made in CapCut, importing it means any text or audio has to be manually added in each app to maximise reach and make it searchable. Again, it can be done but it can seem a bit tedious when you’ve specifically hired someone to do your social media for you.To give an extra piece of mind, I give the option to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) where I'm legally prohibited from sharing any sensitive information, including passwords.

What editing do you do?

I do two types, which I call: natural and artisticNatural editing involves making the image appear as it did in real life, by heightening the contrast and exposure to give the photo or video back the depth that was there in-person. I also remove minor imperfections such as lint, dust and hair, things that you find naturally in an environment, but can take away from the quality of the product in a professional setting. I stay away from editing skin and people’s bodies, because I believe in a more realistic approach to social media, “flaws” and all.Artistic editing includes editing that purposely manipulates lighting and textures, to create a specific atmosphere that wasn’t present when the actual photo was taken. This is the kind of thing that people use on social media for backgrounds, profile pictures etc, things for the “aesthetic”. For videosThe main difference between these two styles is that natural editing portrays things as they are seen in-person, just slightly tweaked, whereas artistic editing has the intent of having more of a stylised look that doesn’t reflect reality. What does “authentic” content mean?

Going beyond just the kind of editing I do (see above), I approach social media with the philosophy that we should embrace imperfections. That doesn’t mean that brands should throw professionalism out of the window, just that we should allow ourselves to show who’s behind the business and allow our audiences to connect with us.I see content creation as an art from but also as a tool for promoting your business. Of course we want to portray our brands in the best light, but we can do that without deceptive techniques like aggressive filtering and AI.All the content I make for brands (and myself) follows this philosophy.

What does “B-roll” mean?

B-roll as a term comes from back when physical film rolls were used, where A-roll was the main footage. B-roll refers to the supplementary footage used to make a video more interesting and provide context.Because B-roll isn’t the main footage used in a video, it means that it’s far more versatile and can be used in many ways, such as being sped up, put in reverse, cut up and put into a different order that A-roll doesn’t allow for. Therefore, it’s perfect for the unpredictability that comes along with an events like a workshop or convention.When covering events, I focus on B-roll because it enables far more content to be made out of it than simply focusing on content that relies on getting A-roll.

What’s your stance on artificial intelligence (AI)?

I’m extremely opposed to AI in the creative space, which includes using it for making social media content. It’s my personal belief that it damages the industry and is harmful, both socially and environmentally. Therefore, all the content I plan, write, shoot, edit, draw and otherwise create is completely free of generative AI. It’s also in my contract that anything I create can’t be used to train any AI or LLMs, even if the contract has ended.If you’ve used generative AI previously (and have a preference for it), we may not be able to work together due to a difference in values. However, if you’ve since moved beyond it, I’m willing to look past it!

Can I upload my own content too?

Of course! I designed this package so that you don’t have to, but you’re free to post your own content. In fact, as this package doesn’t include Stories, I encourage brands to post their own candid content in realtime throughout the event.

Question 10

Does this service include stories?

Accepted Answer

I decided to not include stories in this package for a similar reason as to why I focus on B-roll. Because stories expire after 24 hours, but still take time to capture (and edit if necessary), it can take away the time that would be more effectively spent on creating permanent feed-only posts. In addition, depending on the location, it can be difficult to get sufficient signal and therefore stories would have to be uploaded after the event anyway, which detracts from the candidness of stories.It would also require me to log into your account on my phone, which otherwise isn’t required in order to work together.However, if you’re specifically looking for content for your stories, feel free to contact me and we can discuss it!
